Low Carbohydrate Diets More Effective

Low Carbohydrate Diets More Effective Reduce Weight

In the latest study of obese people and obesity, it is known for those who run a low carb diet to lose weight faster than those who do low fat diet.

After conducting a low-carbohydrate diet for 12 weeks, the respondents succeeded in reducing body weight as much as 4.9 kilograms, while those with low-fat diet decreased only 2.5 kg.

Then this low carb diet vs low fat diet program was continued until 24 weeks. But found no significant difference between the two diet groups.

However, according to Dr.Kevin C. Maki, one of the researchers, low carbohydrate diets remain more effective for reducing fat and control weight.

Maki and his team asked the respondents to reduce glycemic levels by reducing intake of carbohydrates and lots of eating food that has a low glycemic index, ie, fiber-containing foods such as vegetables, beans and wheat.

During the first two weeks the respondents were asked not to consume foods that have high carbohydrate content such as fruits and foods that have starch. They were also asked to avoid alkhol, but they were allowed to eat as much as desired.

Instead the respondents in the low-fat diet group are only allowed to consume 500 to 800 calories per day, avoid fatty foods and portion control food.

After 12 weeks, respondents from low carbohydrate diet group experienced a significant weight loss compared with low fat diet group. After 36 weeks, low carbohydrate group reduced weight of 4.5 kg, medium-fat diet group decreased 2.6 kg, no visible difference.

Further study will still be conducted by the research team to ascertain whether the mechanism of the body decline associated with carbohydrate intake. Also still looking for the most appropriate strategy will be to control your weight in the long term. So, what do you think? Low carbohydrate diet is better than low fat diet?
